Customs officials at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport intercepted two passengers arriving from Kuala Lumpur and discovered 15.38 kg of suspected hydroponic weed hidden inside geysers. The passengers were stopped after crossing the Green Channel, and upon examination, officials found a sophisticated concealment mechanism inside the geysers.
Upon dismantling the appliances, officials uncovered 145 vacuum-sealed packets containing a green leafy substance suspected to be ganja. The total weight of the seized narcotic substance is estimated at 15.38 kg, with a market value of approximately Rs 5.38 crore. The suspects have been arrested under the NDPS Act, and investigations are ongoing to determine the source and recipients of the contraband.
The recent seizure follows a similar incident where customs officials confiscated 1.57 kg of suspected hydroponic weed from another passenger at the same airport. The passenger, arriving from Bangkok, was intercepted after crossing the Green Channel, leading to the discovery of vacuum-sealed packets containing the illicit substance.
