Cyberabad Police in Telangana are increasing their investigation into the POCSO case filed against Bandi Bhagirath, the son of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar. Deputy Commissioner of Police Ritiraj has taken charge of supervising the investigation, visiting the Pet Basheerbad Police Station to review progress. The DCP discussed the case with the Assistant Commissioner of Police and Station House Officer, outlining a plan of action for further steps in the case.
DCP Ritiraj mentioned that the victim’s statement has been recorded, but additional information is required, which she plans to obtain. Indicating that the accused may be on the run, she affirmed that if located, the police will make an arrest. Efforts are underway to track the accused through analysis of his Call Detail Record. Meanwhile, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has instructed the Director General of Police C. V. Anand to promptly launch a thorough investigation into the case.
The Chief Minister expressed concern over the delay in action following the complaint filed on May 8 at Pet Basheerabad Police Station. The Telangana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has also set up a special bench to address the matter. The case against Bandi Bhagirath, accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl, was registered under the POCSO Act. Allegations include harassment over several months and misbehavior at a farmhouse in Moinabad.
