Cyberabad police have dispatched teams to Delhi and Karimnagar to locate Bandi Bhageerath, the son of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay. Bhageerath is allegedly involved in a sexual assault case concerning a minor girl. Despite a notice served on him, Bhageerath did not appear before the police, prompting the search operation.
Pet Basheerabad police issued a second notice to Bhageerath’s uncle in Karimnagar, the last known location of his mobile phone. In response, Bhageerath sent a letter to the Station House Officer of Pet Basheerabad Police Station, requesting a two-day extension to present himself.
Bhageerath has sought interim bail from the Telangana High Court, with his petition set for a hearing before a Vacation Bench on Thursday. His legal team intends to argue that the victim is not a minor, contesting the application of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in this case.
Posters have surfaced in Karimnagar and Hyderabad, alleging Bhageerath’s absconding and urging the public to report any sightings to the authorities. These posters feature Bhageerath alongside his father, Bandi Sanjay, a Member of Parliament from Karimnagar.
