The Indian Athletics Series Final, set for September 10 at New Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, will see top athletes, including Japan’s Asian Games-bound squad, in action. Under the AFI, the Final leg will host competitors invited based on their event rankings, as stated by AFI President Bahadur Singh Sagoo. Thirty-one events, with 16 in the women’s category, will be featured in the Final leg.
In the men’s and women’s 1500m and 3000m steeplechase, the top 12 ranked athletes will have the opportunity to compete, according to Sagoo. Eligible athletes have received invitations from the AFI, with a deadline for confirming entries by August 10. If any top-ranked athlete fails to confirm participation, the next best from the reserve players will get a chance to compete.
Noteworthy athletes, including national record holders and Olympians, are excelling in the ongoing 2026 season. Rankings are based on performances up to the 65th National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Neeraj Chopra, Rohit Yadav, Gurindervir Singh, Animesh Kujur, Vishal TK, Sarvesh Anil Kushare, and Sreeshankar Murali are leading in various events.
Pooja, Vithya Ramraj, Praul Chaudhary, Jyoti Yarraji, Pooja Singh, and Ancy Sojan are among the top-ranked female athletes in different categories. Prize money will be awarded to the top six athletes in each event, with the winner receiving Rs. 1,00,000. The events will cover a range of disciplines for both men and women, including sprints, hurdles, jumps, throws, and middle-distance races.
