The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather alerts for several parts of Bihar, including Patna, warning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning in the next 24 to 48 hours. An Orange Alert has been issued for districts like Patna, Rohtas, Nawada, and Kaimur (Bhabua), where intense rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds are anticipated, possibly leading to localized flooding and traffic disruptions. Additionally, a Yellow Alert has been issued for 13 districts, including Patna, Gaya, Rohtas, and others, indicating the likelihood of moderate to heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning.

Residents in the affected areas have been advised to stay vigilant, especially during heavy rainfall and lightning activity. The Meteorological Department has specifically warned Patna residents of heavy showers and strong winds over the next two days. People residing in low-lying areas are urged to remain alert as heavy rain could result in waterlogging. The Agriculture Department has also advised farmers to take precautions to safeguard Kharif crops from waterlogging.

Authorities have cautioned that prolonged rainfall may harm standing crops, particularly in low-lying agricultural regions around Patna and other affected districts. In response to the weather alert, the Patna district administration has instructed all relevant departments to check drainage systems for proper functioning. Emergency response teams have been stationed in vulnerable areas to promptly address any rain-related incidents.

With the southwest monsoon active over Bihar, residents are advised to stay informed through official weather forecasts, avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain or thunderstorms, stay indoors during lightning activity, be cautious in waterlogged and low-lying areas, and adhere to instructions from local authorities during severe weather conditions. Authorities are closely monitoring the evolving weather situation and have urged citizens to be prepared for potential disruptions due to heavy rainfall in the upcoming days.
