Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides is set to embark on a State visit to India from Wednesday at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The visit, scheduled until May 23, aims to bolster bilateral cooperation in various domains such as trade, investment, technology, education, culture, and defense. Discussions will encompass areas like Artificial Intelligence, FinTech, innovation, and research, as per the Ministry of External Affairs.
PM Modi and President Christodoulides will delve into enhancing ties and addressing regional and global issues during the visit. The agenda includes cooperation in multilateral forums, with PM Modi hosting a luncheon in honor of the visiting dignitary. Christodoulides will be accompanied by a delegation, including Cyprus’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and other officials, marking his first visit to India since assuming office.
The visit holds significance following PM Modi’s historic visit to Cyprus in 2025, the first by an Indian Prime Minister in over two decades. President Christodoulides will meet President Droupadi Murmu and participate in a Business Forum in Mumbai. The visit underscores the enduring partnership between India and Cyprus, aiming to deepen cooperation within the broader India-EU framework.
