David Warner, the former Australian opener, shared his dedication to staying motivated and fit post his retirement from the IPL two years ago. The 39-year-old, set to lead Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League, had faced challenges in the IPL due to poor form, losing his captaincy, and not being retained by his franchise.
Having amassed 6,565 runs in 184 IPL matches, Warner ranks fourth behind Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, and Rohit Sharma. Despite setbacks, he maintained his fitness routine after leaving the IPL, emphasizing the importance of motivation and a healthy diet to stay in top shape.
This marks Warner’s second year in the PSL, following a successful stint last year where he scored 368 runs in 11 matches, guiding Karachi Kings to the play-offs. Warner expressed optimism about the team’s prospects, highlighting the potential of young talents to deliver improved performances.
Karachi Kings, bolstered by the inclusion of Adam Zampa, Warner’s longtime teammate, are gearing up with a well-rounded squad for the upcoming season. Warner emphasized the significance of a balanced team composition in modern leagues, drawing on his extensive experience across various franchise cricket teams.
The defending champions Karachi Kings are all set to kick off their campaign against Quetta Gladiators in the opening match on Friday.
