In a move to revolutionize the maintenance of urban green areas, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) partnered with the University of Delhi’s startup ecosystem to organize a national-level hackathon named “Harit Manthan 2026.” The event concluded with the selection of three winning teams, each receiving seed funding of up to Rs 10 lakh from DDA and an incubation opportunity from Udhmodya Foundation.
The winning teams, comprising two from the Technology Track and one from the Policy Track, showcased innovative solutions for the sustainable development and upkeep of urban green spaces. The hackathon, held over two days on April 17 and 18, aimed to encourage young minds to devise practical and scalable strategies for ecological maintenance.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu emphasized the significance of incorporating fresh perspectives in urban development and ecological preservation during the inauguration of the event. DDA Vice Chairman N. Saravana Kumar highlighted that Harit Manthan represents a long-term commitment to fostering innovation within DDA’s framework, aiming to implement and scale viable solutions over time.
The hackathon attracted around 50 teams from 31 colleges across 7 states, competing in either the Technology or Policy challenge tracks. The event not only recognized the winning teams for their creativity and practicality but also provided an opportunity for all participants to further develop their ideas in collaboration with Udhmodya Foundation.
