The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) has implemented significant administrative and structural changes during its recent Apex Council meeting. One key decision is the discontinuation of accepting complimentary passes, a practice aimed at enhancing the association’s financial stability. DDCA President Rohan Jaitley proposed this change, which was widely supported by council members.
In a move towards gender equality, the DDCA has approved equal prize money for both men’s and women’s competitions. Additionally, the association plans to conduct matches in central Delhi to reduce travel burdens on young cricketers. DDCA will also bid for grounds in central locations like Jamia Millia Islamia and Hamdard Jasola to facilitate this initiative.
Furthermore, the Apex Council has endorsed a 30% increase in match fees for umpires and scorers, starting this season. This decision reflects a commitment to recognizing the contributions of these essential personnel. The council also emphasized the importance of timely appointments for the upcoming domestic season, prioritizing the formation of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) and the selection of coaches and selectors.
DDCA’s focus on infrastructure development includes the commencement of a new building project featuring residential rooms, indoor practice pitches, a swimming pool, and a multi-cuisine restaurant. Renovation plans for existing dressing rooms and corporate boxes, along with the installation of canopies and additional bleachers for spectator comfort, were also approved.
