An explosion at a firecracker manufacturing unit in Ahmedabad, known as ‘New Gujarat Fire Works,’ resulted in the tragic deaths of nine individuals and severe injuries to six others, including children. Despite operating illegally with an expired license and previous shutdown recommendations, the factory continued production, leading to the fatal blast. The incident, occurring near the Rapid Action Force camp, caused extensive damage and casualties, prompting immediate rescue efforts by authorities.

The blast, heard up to five kilometers away, highlighted the factory’s illegal operations and safety violations, raising concerns about regulatory oversight. Workers from nearby factories and security personnel rushed to aid the victims before fire brigade teams arrived. The injured were swiftly transported to hospitals for treatment, with the fire department deploying resources to control the blaze and conduct cooling operations at the site.

Identification challenges arose due to the blast’s impact, complicating the process of confirming victims’ identities. The deceased and injured individuals hailed from various villages in Dahod and Panchmahal districts, underscoring the widespread impact of the explosion on local communities. Investigations revealed a history of regulatory non-compliance and safety breaches at the factory, ultimately leading to the tragic outcome.
