A deaf and mute man in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district was reportedly beaten to death on suspicion of theft in the Panihati area. The victim, identified as Ashik Mondal, aged 32, was subjected to severe brutality by a local family. They allegedly poured hot water on him and forced him to consume acid, leading to his tragic demise.
Following the incident, Ashik was rushed to Sagar Dutta Medical College and Hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries on Monday night. Outraged by the incident, locals demanded strict punishment for the perpetrators. The police have arrested two individuals in connection with the case, while others involved remain at large, prompting a search operation to apprehend them.
The family of the deceased lodged a complaint, leading to the registration of a case against the accused individuals. Expressing shock over the incident, a local Trinamool leader, Prabir Das, condemned the brutal killing and called for stringent action against the culprits. He emphasized the need for justice and expressed confidence in the police to take appropriate measures.
