Discussions in the Jharkhand Assembly revolved around increasing the retirement age of government employees and addressing long-pending backlog vacancies. Finance Minister Radha Krishna Kishore clarified that there is no current proposal to raise the retirement age of state employees. However, he assured that backlog vacancies would be filled promptly through a transparent recruitment process.

LJP MLA Janardan Paswan advocated for raising the retirement age of state government employees, highlighting disparities with central services where doctors and teachers retire at 65. Paswan pointed out that doctors and university teachers in Jharkhand already retire at 65, and mentioned the example of Chhattisgarh where the retirement age has been extended to 62.

In response, the Finance Minister emphasized that decisions on retirement age are influenced by financial capacity, administrative needs, and local conditions. While acknowledging Chhattisgarh’s decision, he confirmed that Jharkhand is not currently considering such a change. He stressed the importance of systematic recruitment to address the state’s personnel shortage.

Congress MLA Rajesh Kachhap raised concerns about backlog vacancies for Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, and Other Backward Classes, alleging thousands of unfilled reserved posts. The Minister refuted claims of over 50,000 backlog vacancies, stating that separate recruitment processes are ongoing in each department. He assured that backlog positions would be filled promptly in accordance with reservation policies.
