India’s Deepti Sharma has made history in women’s T20 Internationals by becoming the highest wicket-taker, achieving her 152nd wicket during the fifth T20I against Sri Lanka in Thiruvananthapuram. This milestone surpasses Australia’s Megan Schutt and secures India’s 5-0 series sweep at home, with Pakistan’s Nida Dar following in third place with 144 wickets.
Radha Yadav, with 103 wickets in 86 innings, stands as the second-best Indian on the wicket-takers list, joining Deepti as the only two Indian bowlers with over 100 T20I wickets. Deepti Sharma recently made history as the first cricketer, male or female, to achieve 1,000 runs and 150 wickets in T20 Internationals. She currently holds the top spot in the ICC Women’s T20I all-rounder rankings and was named player of the tournament at the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup.
In the recent match, India successfully defended 175 runs, winning by 15 runs and completing a 5-0 series sweep, with Deepti contributing one wicket for 28 runs from four overs. Apart from her T20I feats, Deepti has also excelled in Tests and ODIs, with 20 and 162 wickets respectively. She was a significant figure at the Women’s Premier League auction, securing the second-highest bid in league history by re-joining UP Warriorz for Rs 3.2 crore.
Deepti Sharma remains at the top among T20I bowlers, while Hayley Matthews of the West Indies leads among T20I all-rounders. Sri Lanka’s Hasini Perera has climbed 114 places to 71st in the batter rankings due to her strong performances in the series, while Kavisha Dilhari has made a modest gain to reach 79th. With India’s dominant 4-0 lead in the series and aiming for a whitewash, both Indian batters and bowlers are on the rise in the rankings.
