Defence Minister Rajnath Singh initiated the 13-day ‘Shaurya Vijay Yatra’ from the National War Memorial in Delhi to the Kargil War Memorial in Dras, Ladakh, as part of Kargil Vijay Diwas 2026. The expedition, comprising 28 riders, will cover 1,900 kilometers through challenging Himalayan terrain to honor the bravery and sacrifice of Indian soldiers during the 1999 Kargil War.
The riders, including serving and retired defense personnel, will pay respects at various military memorials en route, such as the Chandimandir War Memorial and Leh War Memorial. They will also meet and honor Veer Naris, acknowledging their courage. The journey will conclude at the Kargil War Memorial on July 26, Kargil Vijay Diwas, with a tribute to fallen heroes by offering sacred soil from the National War Memorial.
The expedition, under the motto ‘One Ride, One Nation, One Salute,’ aims to uphold the values of Operation Vijay and inspire future generations with a sense of duty, honor, and selfless service. Chief of Defence Staff General N.S. Raja Subramani and other senior officials joined the event to commemorate the valor and achievements of the soldiers who reclaimed peaks, hills, and bunkers during the Kargil conflict.
