On the 68th Foundation Day of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the scientists and personnel for their commitment, scientific excellence, and national duty. Established in 1958, DRDO aims to enhance India’s self-reliance in science and technology, especially in defence.
Singh expressed his appreciation for DRDO’s efforts in strengthening India’s defence preparedness and promoting self-reliance in defence through indigenous technologies. He wished the DRDO family success in achieving breakthroughs and serving the nation in the coming year.
Formed in 1958, DRDO was created by merging various establishments to focus on defence technology development. It has evolved into India’s largest defence research organization, with 52 laboratories working on critical areas such as aeronautics, armaments, electronics, and life sciences.
With a workforce of 5,000 scientists and 25,000 supporting staff, DRDO plays a significant role in enhancing India’s defence capabilities and technological self-reliance.
