Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to participate in the swearing-in ceremony of the new Bihar Cabinet in Patna on May 7. This event holds significance as it marks a crucial moment in Bihar politics, following the recent transition of power after Nitish Kumar stepped down as Chief Minister. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government conducted a pivotal meeting in anticipation of the upcoming Cabinet expansion, emphasizing the importance of coordination within the alliance.
The Cabinet meeting, set to take place at 5:00 P.M. in the Cabinet Hall at the Chief Secretariat in Patna, will be followed by a press conference at 6:00 P.M. in the Information Building. Governor Syed Ata Hasnain is expected to administer the oath of office and secrecy to the newly-appointed ministers during the expansion ceremony. The consultations between state and central NDA leadership, including discussions with senior BJP figures and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, have played a crucial role in determining the composition of the new ministerial team.
The upcoming Cabinet expansion is anticipated to focus on maintaining caste balance, regional representation, and incorporating a mix of experienced leaders and fresh faces from alliance partners like JD(U), BJP, LJP, HAM(S), and Rashtriya Lok Morcha. The decisions made during the recent meeting are poised to shape the final structure of the Bihar Cabinet, particularly in terms of portfolio distribution and power-sharing arrangements among the coalition partners. Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary’s meeting with JD(U) National President Nitish Kumar is seen as a signal of unity within the NDA ahead of the expansion.
