Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to embark on a three-day official visit to Germany from April 21 to 23, 2026. The visit aims to strengthen the strategic defence partnership between India and Germany while expanding bilateral cooperation. During the trip, Rajnath Singh will engage in bilateral discussions with German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius and other senior government officials to focus on areas like defence industrial collaboration and military-to-military engagements.
A key agenda of the visit will involve discussions on enhancing cooperation in emerging domains such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and drone technologies. Both countries are expected to sign a Defence Industrial Cooperation Roadmap and an Implementing Arrangement for Cooperation in UN Peacekeeping Operations Training during the visit. These agreements are crucial for promoting joint development and co-production of defence equipment.
The visit will serve as a platform to review existing defence cooperation initiatives and explore new avenues for collaboration between the defence industries of India and Germany. Rajnath Singh will also engage with representatives of the German defence industry to facilitate joint ventures, technology partnerships, and co-production projects in alignment with India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.
This visit by Rajnath Singh marks the first by an Indian Defence Minister to Germany in the past seven years, highlighting the importance of the current engagement. The upcoming discussions are expected to deepen the strong strategic partnership between India and Germany, contributing significantly to regional and global peace, stability, and prosperity.
