Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has arrived in Hanoi for a two-day visit to Vietnam, celebrating a decade of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations. During his stay, he will engage in discussions with Vietnamese officials, emphasizing the importance of defence cooperation within the Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Singh is scheduled to meet with General Phan Van Giang, the Minister of National Defence of Vietnam, to further enhance bilateral ties. Following his visit to Vietnam, he will travel to South Korea for the second part of his two-nation tour, focusing on strengthening defence cooperation and promoting peace in the Indo-Pacific region.
In his pre-departure statement, Singh expressed his eagerness to expand bilateral engagement with Vietnam and South Korea. He highlighted the key areas of focus, including strategic military cooperation, defence industrial partnerships, and maritime collaboration, all aimed at fostering peace and stability in the region.
The Defence Minister’s visit coincides with the birth anniversary of former Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh, where he will pay his respects at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. In South Korea, Singh will hold talks with Minister of National Defence Ahn Gyu-back, exploring avenues to enhance defence cooperation and address shared regional and global concerns.
