Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reaffirmed the government’s commitment to granting 33% reservation for women in Parliament and state Assemblies. Despite the recent defeat of a related bill in the Lok Sabha, Singh assured the public of the government’s determination to enact the women’s quota law at the earliest opportunity. He made this statement during an election rally in Tamil Nadu, emphasizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pledge in this regard.
Singh, a key figure in the NDA’s campaign in southern Tamil Nadu, has been actively participating in boosting the party’s presence ahead of the state’s Assembly elections on April 23. His schedule included engagements in various constituencies, with high-profile appearances by other BJP leaders like PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Union Minister Piyush Goyal.
Home Minister Shah, in a separate event, highlighted the resolve of the people of Tamil Nadu to combat corruption and establish an NDA government in the state. He criticized the DMK-Congress alliance for impeding the proposed Delimitation Bill, aimed at enhancing political representation in Tamil Nadu. Shah assured the public that the NDA government is dedicated to passing the bill and fulfilling the state’s aspirations for fair political representation.
