Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta highlighted the critical role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in India’s economic landscape. Speaking at a seminar on AI’s challenges and opportunities, he stressed the need for leveraging technology to enhance opportunities, ensure fairness, and promote inclusive economic growth. Gupta noted that AI has become a key economic force globally, reshaping various sectors like productivity, labor markets, and competitiveness.
AI’s influence extends to financial systems, manufacturing, agriculture, healthcare, logistics, and public administration, transforming economies worldwide. The seminar, attended by experts from academia and industry, emphasized the significant economic prospects AI offers, such as boosting productivity, financial inclusion, public service efficiency, and innovation.
Gupta pointed out that AI-related roles offer higher wages and improved job quality, particularly benefiting India’s youth. However, he cautioned against challenges like labor displacement, skills gaps, and digital inequality. He highlighted the importance of reskilling initiatives, collaboration between industry and academia, and digital education expansion to address these issues and ensure market trust and fairness.
