Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta introduced an AI-powered chatbot named ‘Vidhan Sathi’ for Members, marking the city legislature as the first in India to adopt such a technology. Gupta emphasized that this tool aims to provide legislators with comprehensive research support, ensuring well-informed and purposeful discussions within the House. ‘Vidhan Sathi’ is set to be operational from the upcoming Budget Session starting on March 23.
The chatbot is tailored to offer Members data-driven insights and analysis on various legislative matters such as Bills, Acts, and policy issues. It allows Members to upload screenshots of documents for instant analysis, facilitating their active involvement in legislative debates with a deeper understanding. Gupta highlighted that the primary goal is to equip Members with the necessary tools to analyze complex issues and present evidence-based arguments effectively during discussions.
Designed for seamless integration within the Assembly, ‘Vidhan Sathi’ can be accessed through a dedicated QR code on each Member’s desk and a direct digital link, eliminating the need for additional downloads. The platform is exclusively accessible to the 70 Hon’ble Members of the Assembly, ensuring a secure and tailored legislative support system. The chatbot draws upon the Assembly’s procedural rules, past debates, and legislative records to provide relevant and institutionally grounded information.
The system is available in both Hindi and English, offering voice-enabled features for enhanced usability during proceedings. Gupta outlined that the upcoming session will cover significant legislative matters, including discussions on reports of the Committee of Privileges and the Public Accounts Committee, along with deliberations on issues related to CAG reports. Additionally, Members will have opportunities to raise concerns and engage in short-duration discussions. The session will also feature a complete rendition of “Vande Mataram” to foster a collective sense of purpose and institutional spirit.
