Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta suspended four Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislators for the remainder of the session. This action was taken due to their repeated disruptions during the ongoing Winter Session. The suspended members are Som Dutt, Jarnail Singh, Sanjeev Jha, and Kuldeep Kumar.
The decision to suspend the AAP legislators was made to maintain the authority and decorum of the House. Speaker Gupta emphasized that this move aligns with the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business of the Delhi Legislative Assembly. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented the First batch of Supplementary Demands for Grants for the Financial Year 2025-26 and introduced the Delhi Appropriation (No. 1) Bill 2026.
Water Minister Parvesh Singh highlighted issues with the water supply network, attributing its poor condition to the previous AAP government’s negligence. Singh mentioned that a significant portion of the pipeline network is over 30 years old, leading to water loss and contamination threats. He also pointed out delays in crucial development projects due to tender cancellations and funding challenges.
The current government has approved numerous projects to address water supply issues, including the restart of the Chandrawal command area project. This initiative involves significant infrastructure upgrades, such as laying new pipelines and constructing underground reservoirs. Singh noted that the delay in this project has resulted in cost escalations but emphasized its benefits for residents in multiple Assembly constituencies.
