Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta is set to speak at the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Zone-II North Zone Conference in Chandigarh on Monday. The conference, themed “Role of Aware Society and Legislators in Realising Future Challenges and the Goal of Viksit Bharat 2047,” will be held from June 8–9 at the Haryana Legislative Assembly, as per an official statement.
This two-day regional conclave will gather Presiding Officers, Speakers, and legislators from northern India to discuss aligning legislative efforts with the national roadmap. It aims to enhance parliamentary institutions, modern legislative practices, and democratic cooperation in the region, the statement highlighted.
The event will facilitate dialogue between elected representatives and the public to address upcoming socio-economic challenges. Participants will work on governance frameworks to meet the needs of a developing nation. Gupta, representing the Delhi Legislative Assembly, will actively engage in sessions focusing on citizen empowerment and public involvement in legislative processes.
The conference attendees will exchange best parliamentary practices to create a roadmap for effective regional issue resolution. The goal is to ensure that a vigilant society and dedicated legislators collaborate towards India’s transformation by 2047, the statement added.
Delhi Speaker Vijender Gupta, along with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, launched the first issue of ‘Vidhan-Chetna,’ a quarterly journal of the Delhi Legislative Assembly. The event also marked the release of Central Legislative Assembly proceedings (1924-1930) published in 89 volumes. Gupta emphasized the event’s significance in bridging India’s parliamentary history with its modern legislative discourse.
