Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra criticized the demolition of Shri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara in Farooqabad, Pakistan, expressing disappointment over the silence of AAP leaders like Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab CM Sardar Bhagwant Mann on this issue. Malhotra highlighted that attacks on Sikhs, Hindus, Christians, and their places of worship have become a recurring problem in Pakistan. He contrasted the Indian government’s efforts to ensure security for minority communities with the lack of protection for minorities in Pakistan, which he attributed to extremist influences.
Malhotra pointed out the ongoing challenges faced by minorities in Pakistan, emphasizing that the country has become a breeding ground for terrorism. He criticized the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab for its silence following the Gurdwara demolition, calling it unacceptable. Malhotra also raised concerns about Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Mann’s alleged disregard for Sikh traditions, citing accusations of violating religious practices.
Delhi BJP legislator Sardar Arvinder Singh Lovely joined Malhotra in condemning the demolition, highlighting Pakistan’s failure to safeguard minorities and their religious sites despite projecting itself as a protector of minority rights globally. He commended the Indian government, particularly Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for promptly addressing the issue and urging Pakistan to rebuild the destroyed Gurdwara. Lovely also noted that the incident violated Unesco norms, which mandate the protection of religious sites over 100 years old, condemning any alterations to such heritage structures.
