Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva criticized Opposition parties for opposing the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, which aimed to provide 33% reservation for women and increase parliamentary seats. Sachdeva highlighted that parties like Congress, RJD, and Samajwadi Party were against this move.

He questioned the Congress’s failure to increase Parliament seats from 1971 to 2009 during constituency delimitation. Sachdeva emphasized the importance of Opposition support for the bill, accusing them of betraying the cause of empowering women in India.

During the Lok Sabha debate on the Bill, Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticized the Congress and Rahul Gandhi for obstructing women’s reservation. Shah also condemned INDIA bloc leaders for pushing for Muslim reservation, stating that the Constitution does not allow religious-based reservations.

Shah denounced the Opposition for trying to create a North-South divide over delimitation issues. He stressed that all states, including southern ones, have equal rights in Parliament, cautioning against divisive narratives based on regional differences.
