Delhi Capitals’ off-spin bowling all-rounder Minnu Mani commended her team’s disciplined bowling performance following their convincing seven-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 2026 WPL. The team, according to Minnu, adhered to their strategies on a slow pitch at the BCA Stadium. Electing to bowl first, DC’s bowlers capitalized on the conditions, restricting RCB to 109 runs. Nandni Sharma led the attack with figures of 3-26, including two crucial wickets in the final over, retaining the Purple Cap with 13 scalps in the tournament.
Marizanne Kapp (2-17), Chinelle Henry (2-22), and Minnu Mani (2-18) also contributed with disciplined spells to keep RCB in check. In pursuit of 110 runs, DC overcame early setbacks as skipper Jemimah Rodrigues and Laura Wolvaardt stabilized the innings with a 52-run partnership. Laura finished unbeaten on 42, while Jemimah added 24 runs, guiding DC to victory with seven wickets in hand. Minnu, in a statement released by the franchise post-match, emphasized the importance of sticking to their plans and executing them collectively, which proved pivotal in their success.
Minnu elaborated on how DC maintained pressure with the ball, emphasizing the significance of patience on such pitches. She highlighted the role of spinners in controlling the middle overs, varying pace, and restricting the opposition’s scoring opportunities effectively. Reflecting on her own performance, Minnu acknowledged previous shortcomings but expressed satisfaction with her improved execution, particularly in crucial moments like dismissing RCB captain Smriti Mandhana.
Looking ahead, DC is set to clash with Gujarat Giants in their upcoming match, aiming to capitalize on their recent victories and secure a playoff berth. Minnu emphasized the importance of learning and growing as a team, showcasing composure under pressure and trusting their process during challenging phases of the game.
