Delhi Capitals’ skipper, Jemimah Rodrigues, maintained a positive outlook after her team’s 50-run defeat against the Mumbai Indians in their tournament opener. Despite a strong bowling performance, Delhi Capitals struggled with their batting partnerships, leading to the loss. Rodrigues emphasized the need to focus on building partnerships in future matches to improve the team’s performance.

Defending champions Mumbai Indians bounced back from their initial loss in the 2026 WPL season with a commanding 50-run victory over Delhi Capitals. Nat Sciver-Brunt and captain Harmanpreet Kaur played pivotal roles in Mumbai Indians’ strong total of 195/4. Delhi Capitals faced early batting setbacks, failing to establish partnerships crucial for a successful chase.

Jemimah Rodrigues acknowledged the missed opportunity in the match but remained optimistic about Delhi Capitals’ batting strength. She highlighted the team’s resilience and expressed confidence in their ability to bounce back from the defeat. Rodrigues viewed her captaincy debut positively, considering it a special moment to lead the team at her home ground in front of her parents.

The skipper emphasized the importance of learning from setbacks and quickly shifting focus to the upcoming matches. Despite the initial defeat, Rodrigues believed in the team’s potential to recover swiftly and showcase a strong performance in the following games.
