Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta led the ‘Delhi Next – Code, Create and Change’ event at the Delhi Secretariat, aiming to establish the city as the nation’s civic-tech capital. The initiative brings together youth, startups, researchers, and innovators to address urban challenges through technology solutions. Gupta emphasized the importance of technology, innovation, and public engagement in governance, highlighting the role of ‘Delhi Next’ in connecting young minds with the government system.
The program, more than a hackathon, serves as a bridge between governance and innovation, fostering collaboration for sustainable solutions. Gupta expressed confidence in the youth’s potential to drive governance transformation with the right support and opportunities. ‘Delhi Next’ stands out for its focus on implementing selected solutions as pilot projects, ensuring tangible benefits for citizens through government integration.
Focusing on real civic issues, the innovation program tackled challenges like urban infrastructure, traffic management, air pollution, and citizen services. With over one crore participants in the awareness campaign and 2.5 lakh registrations, the initiative selected 60 top teams for further development. These teams will receive ongoing support, mentorship, and guidance to refine their solutions for government integration, emphasizing practical outcomes beyond awards.
Chief Minister Gupta envisions Delhi as a hub for civic-tech collaboration, emphasizing the role of data, AI, and citizen engagement in future governance models. ‘Delhi Next’ represents a step towards more effective and transparent governance, encouraging active youth participation in shaping the city’s future. The program aims to establish Delhi as a pioneer in civic-tech innovation, fostering continuous collaboration among government, startups, and citizens for enhanced governance.
