Delhi Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, met with Lieutenant Governor, T.S. Sandhu, to address development and growth concerns in Delhi. The meeting coincided with government efforts to boost public transport and prevent monsoon flooding. Gupta emphasized that any development work affecting Delhi residents will be prioritized.
During the meeting, Gupta allocated Rs 150 crore for Dwarka’s development and announced a Rs 6,200 crore Metro expansion project from Kirti Nagar to Palam. She also participated in the ‘Metro Monday’ initiative promoting public transport usage and responsible citizenship.
As part of the initiative, all Delhi Government Ministers and senior officials utilized Metro Rail and buses of the Delhi Transport Corporation for their daily commute. Gupta highlighted the importance of public participation in initiatives like ‘Mera Bharat, Mera Yogdan’ to enhance energy security, environmental conservation, and economic stability.
Gupta’s day began with a walk from her residence to Lok Niwas for a meeting with the Lieutenant Governor. She then traveled by electric car to Kashmere Gate Metro Station, continuing her journey using Delhi Metro services and feeder bus to reach the Delhi Secretariat. Cabinet Ministers Parvesh Verma and Ravinder Indraj accompanied her during the commute.
The Chief Minister stressed that ‘Mera Bharat, Mera Yogdan’ is not just a government program but a call for public involvement. Every citizen’s contribution, no matter how small, is vital for national interests, energy security, environmental protection, and economic equilibrium.
