Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta highlighted the valuable contributions of people from Uttarakhand to Delhi’s progress in various fields like social service, business, art, and culture. At an event commemorating Uttarayan Kautik 2026, Chief Minister Gupta underscored the symbiotic relationship between Uttarakhand as the homeland and Delhi as the workplace, emphasizing the strength derived from this unity. She stressed the significance of cultural events in fostering connections between hill families in Delhi and their roots.
Union Minister of State for Corporate Affairs and Road Transport, Harsh Malhotra, joined Chief Minister Gupta at a cultural event held at Ras Vihar in Patparganj. Chief Minister Gupta described Uttarayani as a festival symbolizing fresh starts, positive resolutions, and rejuvenated spirits, inspiring a forward-looking approach. She praised the cultural program’s vibrant atmosphere, noting that traditional attire, folk music, dances, and broad public participation brought the essence of Uttarakhand’s culture alive in Delhi.
Delhi, as Chief Minister Gupta highlighted, epitomizes India’s diversity by celebrating various cultures, traditions, and festivals from across the nation. From Bihu and Dandiya to Ganesh Utsav and Uttarayani, the city stands as a year-round festival hub. She reaffirmed the Delhi Government’s commitment to advancing the capital on the principles of ‘Vikas bhi, Virasat bhi’. Extending greetings to the people associated with Devbhoomi Uttarakhand on Uttarayani, CM Gupta assured continued support from the Delhi Government for a stronger and more vibrant Delhi.
Uttarayani, observed in the sacred Hindu month of Magh, holds cultural significance in Uttarakhand, known as Khichdi Sankranti and Ghughutia in different regions. Fairs play a vital role in Uttarakhand’s cultural heritage, showcasing religious beliefs, local traditions, and artistic diversity. The Uttarayani Kautik fair, traditionally held in the Kumaon region on Makar Sankranti, carries deep cultural, religious, and historical importance.
