Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta initiated projects totaling Rs 1,075 crore in East Delhi, emphasizing the significance of robust infrastructure for the city’s balanced growth. The projects aim to enhance traffic management and address issues like waterlogging, as highlighted during the event at Ramlila Ground in Vivek Vihar.

Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Harsh Malhotra, joined the Chief Minister at the project launch, focusing on initiatives primarily linked to the Public Works Department (PWD) and the Irrigation and Flood Control Department. Gupta expressed that the residents of Trans-Yamuna region have long awaited comprehensive development of their lanes, drains, and roads.

The foundation-laying of projects valued at nearly Rs 1,075 crore signifies a significant step towards fulfilling these expectations, with the government’s commitment to ensuring equitable development across Delhi. Gupta criticized previous administrations for the persistence of basic issues like broken roads, open drains, and inadequate infrastructure, emphasizing the present government’s results-driven approach over political agendas.

Cabinet Minister Pravesh Sahib Singh, along with several MLAs, were present at the event, underscoring the government’s focus on bridging the development gap between the two banks of the Yamuna River. The Chief Minister reiterated the commitment to uniform development throughout the city, emphasizing the tangible outcomes citizens will witness as essential infrastructure is put in place.

Chief Minister Gupta highlighted the establishment of a new work culture by the Delhi government to expedite development processes, with a strong emphasis on regular monitoring, timely execution, and transparency. The government directed officials to ensure timely completion and high-quality standards for all projects, including the strengthening and improvement of 236 roads by the PWD and the construction of foot overbridges for pedestrian safety.
