Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is set to kick off the government’s Yamuna Riverfront Cleanliness Campaign 2026 on June 14. The initiative aims to restore the Yamuna’s splendor, clean up riverbanks, and enhance public awareness. Chief Minister Gupta will actively participate in this extensive campaign, uniting with citizens to bolster the collective commitment to a clean and healthy Yamuna.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the Yamuna holds immense cultural, religious, and environmental significance for Delhi. Stressing that safeguarding the Yamuna is a shared responsibility, she highlighted the need for both the government and citizens to play a role. The upcoming campaign seeks to raise awareness and foster community engagement towards this cause.

Scheduled for June 14, the campaign will feature cleanliness drives and public awareness events at key ghats along the Yamuna riverfront. Nearly 500 social, religious, educational, and voluntary organizations, alongside numerous volunteers, are expected to participate. The program aims to drive a substantial public effort and dedication towards enhancing the cleanliness of the Yamuna through collective action.

Chief Minister Gupta recalled the previous year’s ‘Meri Yamuna, Mera Kartavya’ campaign, which garnered significant public involvement in cleaning the river and its ghats. The positive response to the initiative, with over 12 tonnes of waste collected and disposed of responsibly, showcased the potential for impactful change when the government and society collaborate. This year’s campaign is being scaled up significantly, with comprehensive arrangements being made in partnership with various local agencies for security, traffic management, and essential services.

Emphasizing that maintaining Yamuna’s cleanliness is an ongoing commitment, Chief Minister Gupta urged citizens, social groups, youth, and volunteers to actively engage. She highlighted that realizing the vision of a clean, thriving, and life-sustaining Yamuna hinges on public participation and collective efforts.
