Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta completed self-enumeration for Census 2027 and encouraged citizens to engage in this national exercise. She emphasized the importance of accurate data for effective policy-making, ensuring that government schemes benefit all those in need. Chief Minister Gupta called on all Delhi residents to actively take part in self-enumeration for the development of Delhi and India.
Earlier on International Labour Day, Chief Minister Gupta attended a Workers’ Felicitation ceremony where she distributed safety kits to 1,000 construction workers. She interacted with women workers, acknowledging their contributions and challenges, and highlighted the government’s commitment to worker welfare and safety. Delhi Labour Minister Kapil Mishra and senior officials were also present at the event.
Chief Minister Gupta recognized the essential role of workers in Delhi’s progress and emphasized the government’s responsibility to enhance their quality of life. She mentioned various worker welfare initiatives under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership that have benefited workers nationwide. The Delhi government is implementing measures to reduce financial burdens on workers and expand their access to social security.
In a significant move, the Delhi government waived the registration and renewal fees for registered building and construction workers. Additionally, a ‘Collective Marriage Scheme’ was announced to provide financial assistance to eligible couples and cover expenses for marriage ceremonies. The government plans to establish modern labour chowks and ‘Shramik Seva Kendras’ for streamlined service delivery to workers, ensuring transparency and ease of access.
Education kits were distributed to 100 children of registered construction workers studying in government schools to support their education. These kits included essential learning materials to aid their academic progress.
