Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized the need for collaborative efforts among National Capital Region (NCR) states to tackle pollution and enhance greenery during the 42nd National Capital Region Planning Board meeting. She stressed the importance of comprehensive and balanced development to offer improved amenities to residents. Gupta highlighted the escalating pollution levels in the NCR as a critical shared concern, advocating for united, long-term strategies by all four states to effectively address the issue.
Expanding on the environmental challenges, Gupta proposed a unified policy adoption and the utilization of modern technology and pollution control resources to combat pollution more efficiently. She underscored the significance of augmenting green cover not only for the current populace but also for the well-being and prospects of future generations. The Chief Minister emphasized the necessity of a coordinated approach to accelerate regional progress and ensure equitable growth across all parts of the NCR.
The NCRPB meeting, chaired by Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal, witnessed the participation of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and senior officials from Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. Gupta reiterated the call for collective efforts by NCR states to deliver superior services and promote balanced development, enhancing the quality of life for residents. She highlighted the Delhi government’s commitment to expanding public amenities and infrastructure and urged other NCR states to follow suit in fostering development to alleviate population pressures on Delhi and achieve regional equilibrium.
Discussions at the meeting centered on bolstering institutional coordination among the NCR states, enhancing regional transportation and connectivity, expediting development project implementations, and addressing key NCR-related issues. Gupta commended the continuous expansion of transport and connectivity infrastructure across the NCR, emphasizing the need for ongoing collaboration to ensure enhanced connectivity throughout the region. She lauded the synchronized efforts of Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan governments in prioritizing public welfare, state interests, and development, leading to accelerated implementation of various schemes and improved inter-state coordination. The collective focus of all four states remains steadfast on the holistic advancement of the NCR and the provision of superior amenities for its populace.
