Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has called on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leadership to clarify their connections with former AAP councilor Tahir Hussain, who was found guilty of inciting the 2020 Delhi riots, murder, and violence. Gupta emphasized the significance of Hussain’s conviction in delivering justice to the affected families. She urged AAP leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal, Sanjay Singh, and Manish Sisodia, to address the public regarding their association with Hussain and the events surrounding the riots. The Chief Minister highlighted the need for accountability and justice for the victims of the violence, stressing the government’s commitment to preventing such incidents in the future.

Reacting to the court’s decision, BJP National Spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia commended the verdict against Tahir Hussain for the murder of IB officer Ankit Sharma during the 2020 riots. Bhatia criticized Kejriwal for allegedly protecting his party colleague and accused the Congress of pursuing appeasement politics. He condemned the statements made by Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi during the riots, describing their actions as reflective of a negative political culture. The BJP spokesperson highlighted the need for transparency and accountability in addressing the aftermath of the Delhi riots.
