Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is set to take her first Republic Day salute at a parade organized by the Delhi government at Chhatrasal Stadium on Saturday. Alongside hoisting the National Flag and delivering a speech, CM Gupta will review a guard of honor and ride in an open SUV to greet the attendees. In 2025, the Republic Day celebrations were overseen by former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
The state-level Republic Day event this year will include opening up the illuminated Assembly premises to the public on January 26 and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitors will have the chance to tour the historic 115-year-old building and explore significant heritage sites within the Assembly premises. As part of the celebrations, a renowned band will perform patriotic tunes, and the Sahitya Kala Academy will showcase cultural presentations on both days.
Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta has encouraged Delhi residents to visit the historic Delhi Vidhan Sabha and commemorate Republic Day with a true sense of patriotism. He emphasized that Republic Day signifies India’s constitutional journey and democratic principles, urging citizens to connect more deeply with the nation’s values and heritage by visiting the Assembly. Visitors will be able to witness the Republic Day festivities in person, appreciate the architectural heritage of the Delhi Vidhan Sabha building, and understand its crucial role in the democratic governance of the National Capital Territory of Delhi.
To mark Republic Day, no advance registration is needed to access the Assembly complex. Visitors on both days will be granted entry after a security check by presenting a valid ID Proof.
