A Delhi court has postponed the hearing in a criminal defamation case brought by Priya Kapur against her sister-in-law, Mandhira Kapur Smith. The adjournment was granted to allow Priya Kapur time to respond to an application filed by Mandhira Kapur. The matter is now scheduled for further hearing on April 22 at the Patiala House Courts.

Priya Kapur requested time to address an application by Mandhira Kapur under Section 330 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. The court accepted the request, instructing Priya Kapur to submit her response before the next hearing date. Mandhira Kapur sought copies of documents supporting the criminal defamation complaint filed by Priya Kapur.

The court had previously issued summons to Mandhira Kapur in this case. Priya Kapur has alleged a sustained campaign of false and defamatory statements against her by Mandhira Kapur Smith and another individual. The statements, circulated through various media channels, are claimed to be false and damaging to Priya Kapur’s reputation.
