A Delhi court has ordered three days of police custody for five Youth Congress workers involved in the protest at the India AI Impact Summit. The accused individuals – Saurabh, Arbaaz, Siddharth, Ajay, and Raja Gurjar – will appear before the court again on March 1. Saurabh, Arbaaz, and Siddharth were brought to Delhi from Himachal Pradesh, while Ajay and Raja Gurjar were already in custody.

A 24-hour standoff occurred between Delhi Police and Himachal Pradesh Police when the former detained three Youth Congress activists from Rohru in Shimla district. Himachal Police filed a kidnapping case against Delhi Police personnel and held them near the Shoghi border before granting transit remand. Saurabh, Arbaaz, and Siddharth were later taken to Delhi after legal procedures.

Delhi Police clarified that the three individuals were not Himachal Pradesh residents and had allegedly hidden after the protest. Two of the arrested were present at the protest, while one was allegedly part of the conspiracy. Earlier, four Youth Congress members were given five days of police custody, and Indian Youth Congress (IYC) National President Uday Bhanu Chib was remanded for four days after his arrest.

The protest has sparked a political controversy, with the BJP criticizing it as damaging India’s global reputation, while the Congress party describes it as a peaceful demonstration addressing youth concerns.
