The Cyber Police Station in Delhi’s North-East District uncovered a fraudulent call center that scammed people by pretending to be bank representatives. Six individuals have been apprehended in connection with a credit card fraud amounting to Rs 1.31 lakh. An e-FIR was filed based on a complaint by a resident of Karawal Nagar, Delhi, who fell victim to the scam.
The fraudsters, posing as bank officials, contacted the victim and offered to increase his credit card limit. After gaining his trust, they illicitly obtained his credit card details and conducted unauthorized transactions, resulting in a loss of approximately Rs 1.31 lakh. An investigation by the police revealed that the defrauded money was used to purchase items through Blinkit, including a Samsung mobile phone and two power banks.
An individual named Anish Gupta was identified as using the mobile phone to deceive the victim. He disclosed his involvement in a fraudulent call center operating from a rented flat in Khyala, West Delhi. Following this lead, the police raided the location and arrested five more individuals involved in the illegal operation.
