In a move to support farmers affected by heavy rain and waterlogging in August and September 2025, the Delhi government, under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has sanctioned over Rs 33.31 crore as ex-gratia assistance. The aid, set at Rs 75,000 per hectare, will benefit farmers across 4,442.41 hectares of impacted agricultural land in various districts and sub-divisions of Delhi. The relief amount will be directly transferred to eligible farmers’ bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) starting next month.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized the government’s commitment to farmers, stating that the assistance aims to help them recover from significant losses caused by adverse weather conditions. The relief scheme targets areas with 100% crop loss, ensuring transparent and direct transfer of aid to eligible farmers. The Delhi government’s decision covers a total of 4,442.41 hectares of affected agricultural land in different parts of Delhi.
The approved assistance includes specific allocations for various regions within Delhi, such as Rs 2.74 crore for Alipur (Narela), Rs 13 lakh for Burari, Rs 38.63 lakh for Punjabi Bagh (Mundka), and Rs 19.92 lakh for Vikaspuri. Notably, relief funds of Rs 8.70 crore and Rs 4.49 crore have been earmarked for Mundka and Bawana in the Kanjhawala area, respectively, covering a total of 1,758.76 hectares of affected agricultural land. Additionally, assistance has been sanctioned for regions like Rohini (Mundka), Kapashera (Matiala), Najafgarh, and Matiala to aid farmers in these areas.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta highlighted the government’s stringent eligibility criteria to ensure that the assistance reaches genuine and deserving farmers promptly.
