The Delhi government has issued a show-cause notice to a private school in Janakpuri for serious safety breaches, illegal operations, and financial misconduct. Education Minister Ashish Sood has instructed the Directorate of Education to take strict action against the school’s management. The school has been given seven days to respond, or face immediate consequences.
The government emphasizes a zero-tolerance policy towards compromising children’s safety and well-being. The school, as a guardian in loco parentis, holds legal and moral responsibility for all students. Any concealment of crimes, such as child abuse, running unauthorized branches, and misusing public funds, will not be tolerated. The authorities are prepared to take over management and recommend the cancellation of the school’s land lease if necessary.
An official investigation revealed severe administrative, financial, and ethical failures within the school. It highlighted an alleged sexual molestation incident involving a nursery-class girl that the school management did not report to the Directorate of Education, violating child protection laws. The inquiry also found that CCTV cameras on the premises were non-functional during a police investigation, indicating deliberate negligence.
The school was found to be operating Nursery and KG classes in a private residential building without proper authorization. Moreover, the basement of this building was used as an unsupervised area for children’s activities. The school lacked essential child protection policies, committees, and trained officers. Security staff had not undergone mandatory background checks, raising serious concerns about child safety.
