The Delhi government Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has approved a decrease in the VAT rate on Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) in the National Capital Region from 25% to 7%. This reduced rate will be effective for an initial six-month period to help prevent a surge in airfares amidst global oil supply disruptions due to the Iran conflict.
Chief Minister Gupta recently participated in a ceremony where meritorious girl students in the R. K. Puram Assembly constituency were honored and given free bicycles. The distribution aimed to support girls who had completed Classes 10 and 12, enabling them to pursue further education with enhanced convenience, safety, and self-reliance.
During the event, Chief Minister Gupta emphasized the significance of initiatives like these in promoting girls’ education and empowering them to progress in life. She commended the organizers for their dedication and described the bicycle distribution as a positive step towards women’s empowerment, highlighting the importance of educating daughters for a brighter future.
The Delhi government, under Chief Minister Gupta’s leadership, announced a plan to provide bicycles to all girls entering Class 9 in government schools. With approximately 1.30 lakh girls enrolling in Class 9 annually, this initiative aims to support their educational journey from high school to college and coaching institutes. The distribution process will commence post the summer break, with the government striving to offer increased opportunities and facilities for girls’ education.
