The Delhi government has renamed its Mahila Samriddhi Yojana to the ‘Delhi Lakshmi Yojana’ in a move aimed at empowering women financially. Under this scheme, women aged 21 to 60 will receive Rs 2,500 per month. The government plans to launch this initiative around Raksha Bandhan next month to support eligible women.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta oversaw a review meeting at the Delhi Secretariat to ensure the effective and timely implementation of the scheme. She emphasized the importance of transparent and hurdle-free delivery of benefits to eligible women. The government aims to provide a strong financial foundation for women in Delhi through the ‘Delhi Lakshmi Yojana’.
The meeting highlighted the scheme’s eligibility criteria, stating that only women who have been Delhi residents for at least 10 years or whose families meet this criterion will qualify. The scheme targets genuine beneficiaries, with strict guidelines in place to ensure transparency and accountability. The initiative aims to benefit numerous women in the capital, excluding those already receiving government assistance or from families with certain assets.
