The Delhi Gymkhana Club, a prestigious private club in the national capital, has taken swift action in response to a communication from the Land and Development Office (L&DO) under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The government body has requested re-entry and resumption of the club’s premises for defense infrastructure strengthening and public security purposes.

The Governing Council (GC) of the Delhi Gymkhana Club convened an emergency meeting following this development and decided to promptly respond to the L&DO. Seeking clarity on various issues concerning its members and employees, the club has also requested an urgent meeting with senior officials from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

In an official communication from the Secretary’s Office, signed by Officiating Secretary Rajesh Bhatnagar, the club’s top priority is ensuring uninterrupted operations without disruption. Emphasizing the protection of the interests of its members and staff, the club, established in 1913, plays a vital role for numerous individuals who rely on its services.

The Delhi Gymkhana Club, situated on Safdarjung Road, has been a prominent venue for senior officials, diplomats, politicians, and notable citizens. The unexpected notice from the L&DO has raised concerns among its members, who have been assured of timely updates once a response is received from the Ministry. The club’s legacy preservation efforts are ongoing as it engages with the authorities to address the situation.
