The Delhi State Haj Committee has initiated a unique program to encourage Haj pilgrims traveling to Saudi Arabia to utilize the Delhi Metro Airport Express Line instead of buses and large vehicle convoys when heading to the Indira Gandhi International Airport. This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for fuel conservation and energy efficiency in light of global energy security concerns.
Chairperson of the Delhi Haj Committee, Kausar Jahan, engaged with the pilgrims before their journey, emphasizing the significance of incorporating sustainable and energy-saving practices into daily routines. Kausar Jahan highlighted, “PM Modi has urged us to conserve fuel and energy. It is our duty as Indians to heed this call, especially during these times of global energy uncertainty.”
In support of the Prime Minister’s plea and for the nation’s benefit, the committee has taken steps to promote the use of the Delhi Metro Airport Express Line over larger vehicles, convoys, and buses for airport travel. Many Haj pilgrims have welcomed this move and expressed their backing for the initiative.
Some pilgrims shared their thoughts on the initiative, with one stating, “We followed PM Modi’s advice to save fuel by opting for the metro over buses, thanks to the Delhi Haj Committee.” Another pilgrim acknowledged the shift from buses to the metro as a demonstration of national involvement in fuel conservation endeavors.
The program has not only garnered support from the pilgrims but has also highlighted the importance of public transport as an eco-friendly and efficient mode of travel.
