Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that the DTC has distributed more than 8.40 lakh ‘Pink Saheli NCMC Smart Cards’ for women’s free travel since March 2. These cards, part of the ‘One Nation, One Card’ initiative, are provided at no cost and require only mobile number and Aadhaar verification for issuance.
The distribution of these cards is ongoing through 73 centers, including DTC Pass Sections, District Magistrate offices, and special camps. Plans are in place to expand distribution points as needed to ensure wider accessibility. Once loaded with credit, these cards will be usable not just on DTC buses but also on the Delhi Metro, RRTS, and other public transport systems.
As of May 18, a total of 840,618 ‘Pink Saheli NCMC Smart Cards’ have been issued. While both paper tickets and smart cards are currently valid, the free travel benefit will soon be exclusive to the Pink Smart Card. Chief Minister Gupta praised the central government’s efforts, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in enhancing Delhi’s infrastructure with projects totaling Rs 1.31 lakh crore over the past 12 years.
