The family of a Delhi Judicial Service officer found hanging at his Green Park residence has raised serious allegations, citing his stress and complaints of harassment before his death. The deceased, identified as 30-year-old Aman Kumar Sharma, served as the secretary of the District Legal Services Authority in the North-East district. Police are treating the case as a suspected suicide after discovering him hanging in his home’s bathroom.
Aman Sharma’s wife, Swati Sharma, who is also a judicial officer, is under investigation, with her statement being recorded by the authorities. The deceased, son of Prem Kumar Sharma, resided in Green Park, where the tragic incident occurred. The deceased’s last rites were performed in his ancestral village in Alwar, Rajasthan.
Rajesh Sharma, father of the deceased’s brother-in-law, alleged that Aman had confided in his father about intense mental stress due to marital issues. Aman had reportedly expressed being harassed by his wife and her sister, an IAS officer named Nidhi Malik. The family disputes the suicide theory, claiming a different narrative surrounding the events leading to Aman’s death.
Authorities are investigating the matter comprehensively, examining Sharma’s phone records, call details, and electronic devices for any unusual activity. CCTV footage from the vicinity is also under scrutiny to determine if any visitors were present before the incident. Statements from neighbours and colleagues are being recorded to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the officer’s demise.
Sharma had a background as a judicial magistrate and civil judge before assuming the role of the District Legal Services Authority secretary in the North-East district. He had entered the judicial services in 2021 following his law degree completion in 2018 from a Pune university.
