Delhi Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu and Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently led efforts to enhance Delhi’s environmental sustainability. Sandhu emphasized the government’s dedication to creating a clean, green, and climate-resilient National Capital under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
Sandhu and Shah initiated a plantation drive on the Ridge and introduced 11 new e-buses to bolster eco-friendly public transportation in Delhi. These actions align with the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047, showcasing the government’s long-term commitment to enhancing the city’s environment.
The initiative includes the launch of the Delhi Ridge Ecological Restoration Campaign, aiming to restore over 6,300 hectares of degraded Ridge forests by planting more than 1 crore native saplings. Additionally, the officials inaugurated an Automatic Vehicle Testing Station and laid the foundation for a High Security Prison in Narela to address jail overcrowding in Delhi.
Sandhu highlighted these transformative steps as part of the government’s joint effort to build a sustainable and climate-resilient National Capital. The initiatives underscore a shared commitment to a clean and green future for Delhi in line with the vision of #ViksitBharat@2047.
