Delhi Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu recently opened a dedicated Women Police Station in North District’s Subzi Mandi area. The station, run entirely by female staff, aims to offer a safe space for women to report grievances. Sandhu emphasized the importance of empowering women for societal progress during the inauguration.
Sandhu highlighted the significance of a secure and empowered female population in his address at the event. He stressed the station’s role in providing women with a supportive environment to seek justice and assistance without fear. The initiative aligns with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the pivotal role of women in nation-building.
The newly inaugurated Women Police Station signifies a significant step towards a more gender-sensitive policing system. It focuses on addressing crimes against women, including domestic violence, sexual harassment, and stalking. Sandhu also commended the Delhi Police’s efforts in enhancing women’s safety through initiatives like Pink Booths and the ‘Sashakti’ drive.
The Lieutenant Governor further directed the police force to establish similar women-centric stations across the capital. This move aims to set a higher standard for women-friendly policing and ensure a responsive law enforcement system. Sandhu’s emphasis on women’s safety and empowerment reflects a broader commitment to creating a secure and inclusive environment for all residents.
