Delhi Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu participated in Baisakhi celebrations, highlighting the importance of guiding the youth to safeguard cultural heritage. Sandhu acknowledged the pivotal role of the Punjabi community in shaping Delhi’s historical landscape and driving its contemporary progress through contributions in trade, industry, and the ethos of selfless service. He urged for a collective effort in mentoring the youth, supporting budding entrepreneurs, and preserving the diverse cultural legacy for future generations. The Lieutenant Governor extended his wishes for the enduring spirit of Baisakhi to inspire harmony, empathy, and advancement in all endeavors.
The Lieutenant Governor also commended the inauguration of the Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor, hailing it as a transformative initiative that will enhance the quality of life for millions in the National Capital Region. Sandhu lauded the project as a significant milestone in India’s infrastructure development journey, attributing its success to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s efficient execution. The expressway, with an investment of Rs 11,868 crore, is expected to revolutionize travel, reducing the journey time from Delhi to Dehradun from nearly 6 hours to just over 2.5 hours. It promises seamless, signal-free connectivity from key points like Akshardham, Geeta Colony, and Shastri Park, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion and stimulate regional trade, tourism, and economic activities.
